Hembree's band combines powerful vocals and hot picking to bring a new sound to the bluegrass stage. Of Mr., Hembree’s many distinctions as a bluegrass performer over several decades, his tenure as a veteran band member of Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys and Co-founder of the Nashville Bluegrass Band brings a special credibility to any Bluegrass Festival he performs at. This Bluegrass Band is like an onion: just when you unravel one layer, then there is another, and another...
The Driftless Revelers have been known to pleasure a crowd with plectral banjo tones, the mournful wailing of resophonic steel guitars, and the up-right bass bellows of an era that can't quite be defined, but revels in the timeless ephemera of weird old-time American music.
With influences as varied and eccentric as a proper musty smelling thrift store record collection, the band grooves merrily through early roots blues and jazz music, to hillbilly and string band howlers, all the way into the not-quite folk but not-quite psychedelic realms of their own creation.
A Driftless Revelers show will lure you in with their joy--keep you dancing with their search for the cosmic groove in the confines of stringed instruments--and will send you on your way with flashbacks of the Driftless Revelery found only in the essence of the intangible reaches of notes once played-- that then fall silent.
The Driftless Revelers formed in the second spring of the first global pandemic of the 21st century, with one ear turned toward the shellac platters and Victrola virtuosos of the early to mid 20th century, and the other ear glued to the soundscapes of the 1960's & 1970's American freak-folk scene.
Band leader, Matt Sayles, returns to the Manitowish Waters stage after winning fans over in 2003 with his band, Frostbitten Grass, Bluegrass Grown From The Cold, Cold Ground. Fellow songwriters Ben Nelson and Jerod Kaszynski, will accompany him at this year’s MidSummer Bluegrass Festival. As a cautionary note, listening to this band perform will very likely put a smile on your face!
Kenny Stinson & Perfect Tym’n are one of the top trending bands in the World of Bluegrass as evidenced by 10 different nominations in the first round of the 2024 International Bluegrass Music Association’s (IBMA’s) awards honors, including Entertainer of the Year, Vocal Group of the Year, Instrumental Group of the Year, Song of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Banjo, Bass, Mandolin and Guitar Player of the Year, respectively.
These entertainers bring it on to festivals across the country especially with two of their songs that have hit the charts in recent months: “Another Train,” and “Common Ground.”
Perfect Tym’n is the band most requested to return to the Manitowish Waters stage, and will keep the dance hall stomping, to boot!

Patrick Downing invites all levels of Jammer’s to join his Unplugged Campfire Jam sessions. On-lookers are welcome!
The Best Westerns Band repertoire ranges from Bob Wills to Benny Goodman. Some call their music swing, some might think it’s rockabilly, and some even call it western music. And that’s how you know it’s Western Swing---a cousin genre to Bluegrass Music. As a sampling of the groups credentials, playing lap pedal steel for the Best Westerns is Eddie Rivers, who is widely acknowledged as the world’s best on his instrument. Mr. Rivers performed for more than a decade with the Western Swing supergroup, Asleep At The Wheel. In short, The Best Westerns scheduled sets and Meet & Greet Q&A, aim to enjoyably expand each patron’s musical repertoire of life.

Best Westerns, Meet & Greet Q & A
(Please have your thought-out questions ready and/or email them ahead of time)
The Best Westerns Meet & Greet Q & A is scheduled inside the Cozy Cove. Their 3 PM Session was designed to peak your curiosity about Western Swing Music, so bring your questions that set generated. This Institute is also considered a primer for deepening appreciation of the Best Westerns’ final Main Stage Act of the evening scheduled for 9 PM. We hope Eddie Rivers will demonstrate a few licks on that curious instrument, the pedal steel guitar. You’ll want to go to this workshop!

Bluegrass to Swing, and Everything In Between
The Piper Road Spring Band has a long history of performing and first visited the Cozy Cove in 1991 and the Second Annual Midsummer Bluegrass Festival, a festival that Bill Monroe, Father of Bluegrass, also performed at.
Piper Road Spring Band was born into the age of rock & roll with individual backgrounds diverse as classical, cowboy, folk, blues and Dixieland. Influenced by some live performances of Doc Watson and Bill Monroe and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band release of "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" in the early 1970's, they put away the electric amps and guitars and developed a unique acoustic/bluegrass style. They never completely abandoned their musical roots and have blended Irish fiddle tunes with American country, big band, novelty and space-aged Grateful Dead inspired jams.
The band continues to swing! With their strong bond of friendship, commitment to quality musicianship and continuing support of a strong fan base, Piper Road invites you to join them as their show hits the road. The current Piper Road roster has accumulated over 100 years of experience performing together.
Patrick Downing invites all levels of Jammer’s to join his Unplugged Campfire Jam sessions. On-lookers are welcome!
The Gibson Brothers bring a background in farming from upstate New York that may endear our agricultural appreciations here in Wisconsin. In the Bluegrass world, a Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine article stated: “They have it all: lead vocals, brother-duet harmony, instrumental virtuosity, ensemble sensibilities, and great original material. Superstars of Bluegrass is another accolade attributed to them in the New York Times. So, what advice would you look for if you have a chance to see them perform in Manitowish Waters this midsummer? According to the publication Making A Scene: Run to any opportunity to see The Gibson Brothers…

Gibson Brothers, Meet & Greet Q & A
(Please have your thought-out questions ready and/or email them ahead of time)
Enjoy a Meet & Greet Q & A with The Gibson Brothers. Bring your questions on how they valued family and life near their family farm over choosing a life in Nashville? What insights can be gained from how they select songs to perform or what inspires them to write songs? Or just hear them talk about their perspectives on Bluegrass Music as it relates to their 30 + years of performing.
